The Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Act 2003 (Commencement) (No. 6) Order 2005

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 199(1) and (3) of the Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Act 2003( 1 ) hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, interpretation and extent

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Act 2003 (Commencement) (No. 6) Order 2005.

(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Act 2003.

(3) Article 2(1)(a) and (b) of this Order extends to England and Wales.

(4) Article 2(1)(c) of this Order extends to England only.

Appointed day

2. —(1) 1st April 2005 is the day appointed for the coming into force of —

(a) section 190 (abolition of the Public Health Laboratory Service Board) of the Act;

(b) section 196 (repeals and revocations), insofar as it relates to Part 7 of Schedule 14 to the Act; and

(c) section 85 (criteria) of the Act in so far as it is not already in force.
