Having regard to the general objectives of the Teacher Training Agency( 1 ) and being of the opinion that they may appropriately discharge the additional function hereby conferred, and having carried out such consultation as appears to her to be appropriate in accordance with section 16(3) of the Education Act 1994( 2 ), the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 16(1) and 23(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and application

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (England) Order 2005 and comes into force on 2 nd May 2005.

(2) This Order applies only in relation to England.

Conferring of additional function

2. The Secretary of State hereby confers on the Teacher Training Agency the additional function of administering any arrangements made by her under Part 2 of the Education Act 2002( 3 ) for the provision of incentive payments to school teachers who teach a subject in respect of which there is a shortage of teachers.
