The First Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 57A, 140(4) and 143(1) and (2) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988( 1 ), hereby makes the following Regulations, a draft of which has been laid before, and approved by resolution of, each House of Parliament:

Citation, application and commencement

1. These Regulations, which apply to England only, may be cited as the Non-Domestic Rating (Chargeable Amounts) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which they are made.

Amendments to the 2004 Regulations

2.The Non-Domestic Rating (Chargeable Amounts) (England) Regulations 2004( 2 ) are amended in accordance with the following provisions.

Appropriate fraction

3. In regulation 9(3)(b)(i) and (ii), for “1st April 2000” substitute “1st April 2005”.

Splits and mergers

4. In Schedule 2, in paragraphs 2(1), 3(1), 4(1) and 5(1), for the words “43(4) to (6A), 44 and 45(4) to (6)” substitute “43(4) to (6A), 44, 45(4) to (6) and 54(4) to (7)”.
