The Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (Commencement No. 6 and Appointed Day) Order 2006

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 161(4) and 178(8) of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005( 1 ).

Citation and Interpretation

1. β€”(1) This Order may be cited as the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (Commencement No. 6 and Appointed Day) Order 2006.

(2) In this Order β€œthe Act” means the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005.

Commencement

2. The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 8th May 2006β€”

(a) in section 161 (abolition of Royal Parks Constabulary), subsection (1) and, to the extent not already in force, subsection (5);

(b) section 174(2) (minor and consequential amendments, repeals and revocations) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 17 in paragraph (d) below;

(c) paragraphs 9, 10 and 12 in Part 2 of Schedule 13 (abolition of Royal Parks Constabulary: supplementary); and

(d) in Part 2 of Schedule 17 (repeals and revocations), the entries relating toβ€”

(i) paragraph 27D and the cross-heading before it of Schedule 1 to the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000( 2 ); and

(ii) section 82(1)(f) and (5) of the Police Reform Act 2002( 3 ).

Appointed Day

4. The day appointed for the purposes of section 161(2) of the Act is 8th May 2006.
