The Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006 (Commencement No.1) Order 2006

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 107 of the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006( 1 ):
Citation, extent and interpretation
1. This Order may be cited as the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2006.
2. In this Order—
(a) article 4 extends to England and Wales;
(b) article 5 extends to England and Wales and to Northern Ireland; and
(c) article 6 applies to England only.
3. In this Order “the Act” means the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006.
Provisions coming into force on 2nd May 2006
4. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 2nd May 2006—
section 1(1), (2), (3) and (5) and Schedule 1;
section 2;
section 5;
section 9;
section 11(1) and (2), but not paragraphs (a) and (c) of subsection (2);
section 13;
section 14;
section 15(2), (3), (4), (5) and (6);
section 16;
section 29;
section 105(1) and the following paragraphs of Schedule 11, but only so far as they insert the words “Natural England” in the relevant Schedules—
paragraph 34(1) and (2);
paragraph 39(1) and (2);
paragraph 58(1) and (2);
paragraph 60(1) and (2);
paragraph 61(1) and (3);
paragraph 105;
paragraphs 153(1) and (2).
5. Section 98 of the Act comes into force on 2nd May 2006.
Provisions coming into force on 2nd May 2006 immediately after the coming into force of the sections 47–50 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000
6. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 2nd May 2006 immediately after the coming into force of sections 47–50 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000( 2 )—
section 66;
section 67;
section 68;
section 69;
section 70;
section 71;
section 105(2) and the following entries in Schedule 12—
the entry relating to the Road Traffic Act 1988 (c. 52) ;
in the entry relating to the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (c. 37) , the repeal of paragraphs 6 and 7 of Schedule 7.
