The Education (Chief Inspector of Schools in England) Order 2006

Coming into force in accordance with article 1

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 7th day of June 2006

Present,

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1(1) and (4) of the Education Act 2005( 1 ), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Chief Inspector of Schools in England) Order 2006 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Appointments to the office of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools in England

2. Christine Bridget Gilbert is appointed to the office of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools in England for a period of 5 years from 1st October 2006.

3. Maurice John Smith is re–appointed to the office of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools in England from the date on which this Order shall come into force until 30th September 2006.

Revocation

4. The Education (Chief Inspector of Schools in England) Order 2005 is revoked ( 2 ).
