JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS AND REMOVALS, NORTHERN IRELAND

The Constitutional Reform Act 2005 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2006

The Lord Chancellor makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 148 of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005( 1 ).

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2006.

Commencement of provisions of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005

2. Paragraph 122(5) of Schedule 5 to the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 shall come into force on 15th June 2006, except in so far as it makes the office of General Commissioner for a division in Northern Ireland a listed judicial office for the purposes of sections 5 and 9B of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002( 2 );

3. The following provisions of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 shall come into force on 25th September 2006—

(a) section 124 (Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Ombudsman);

(b) section 125 (complaints: interpretation), except in so far as it inserts a new section 9B(3)(b) into the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002;

(c) section 126 to 131 (complaints and references); and

(d) Schedule 15 (Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Ombudsman).
