The Secretary of State for Education and Skills makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers in sections 22, 42(6) and 43(1) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998( 1 ):
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 and come into force on 11th August 2006.
Amendment of the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) Regulations 2006
2.The Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) Regulations 2006( 2 ) are amended in accordance with these Regulations.
3. In regulation 3—
(a) omit the definition of “College”; and
(b) for the definition of “current course”, substitute—
“ “current course” means the designated course in respect of which a person is applying for support; ” .
4. In regulation 8(4), for “paragraph (2)” substitute “paragraph (3)”.
5. In regulation 21(3), for “22,700 euro” substitute “24,100 euro”.
6. In regulation 25(4)(b), for “12,840 euro” substitute “13,000 euro”.
7. In paragraph 1(6)(a) of Part 1 of Schedule 1, for “Swiss frontier employed person” substitute “Swiss frontier self-employed person”.

1998 c. 30 ; section 22 was amended by the Learning and Skills Act 2000 (c. 21) , section 146 and Schedule 11; the Income Tax (Earnings and Pensions) Act 2003 (c. 1) , Schedule 6; the Finance Act 2003 (c. 14) , section 147 and the Higher Education Act 2004 (c. 8) , sections 42 and 43 and Schedule 7. In relation to Wales, the functions of the Secretary of State under section 22 of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 were transferred to the National Assembly for Wales under section 44 of the Higher Education Act 2004 except so far as they relate to the making of any provision authorised by subsection (2)(a), (c), (j) or (k), (3)(e) or (f) or (5) of section 22.
