The Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (Commencement) (No. 7) Order 2006

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 178(8) and (9) of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005( 1 ), makes the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (Commencement) (No. 7) Order 2006.

2. Section 144 of and Schedule 10 to the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (parental compensation orders)( 2 ) shall come into force on 20th July 2006 in the areas specified in the Schedule to this Order.

1. The counties of Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire.

2. The cities of Leicester and York.

3. The metropolitan boroughs of Gateshead and South Tyneside.

4. The London boroughs of Southwark and Wandsworth.

Schedule 10 inserts section 13A (parental compensation orders ), section 13B (parental compensation orders: the compensation), section 13C (parental compensation orders: supplemental), section 13D (parental compensation orders: appeal) and section 13E (effect of parental compensation order on subsequent award of damages in civil proceedings) into the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (c. 37) .
