The Secretary of State is designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community.
The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on him by that section:
Title, application and commencement
1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2006, and apply in England only.
(2) These Regulations come into force—
(a) for the purposes of regulation 2(3), on 1st August 2006;
(b) for all other purposes, on 1 st September 2006.
Amendment to the Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (England) Regulations 2006
2. —(1) Amend the Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (England) Regulations 2006 in accordance with this regulation.
(2) In regulation 1(3)—
(a) in the definition of “Council Directive “ paragraph 5(a) ” ; and
(b) in the definition of “Council Directive “ paragraph 5(b) ” .

(4) In regulation 19(9), after “an inspector” add “ in the case of sub-paragraphs (a) and (b), and a veterinary inspector in the case of sub-paragraph (c) ” .
(5) In regulation 21(3), for “veterinarian”, substitute “ veterinary ” .
