The Student Fees (Amounts) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2006

The Secretary of State for Education and Skills makes the following Regulations, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 24(6) and 47 of the Higher Education Act 2004( 1 ).

In accordance with section 26(2)(a)(i) and (b)(i) of that Act he is satisfied that the increases to the basic and higher amounts are no greater than are required to maintain the value of those amounts in real terms.

In accordance with section 26(3) of that Act he has had regard to the index of prices specified in regulations made by him under that subsection( 2 ).

Citation and Commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Student Fees (Amounts)(England)(Amendment) Regulations 2006 and come into force on 1st September 2007.

Increases to the prescribed basic and higher amounts

2. The Student Fees (Amounts)(England) Regulations 2004 ( 3 ) are amended as follows:

(a) in regulation 4 for “£1200” substitute “£1,225” and for “£3000” substitute “£3,070” and

(b) in regulation 5 for “£600” substitute ““£610” and for “£1500” substitute “£1,535”
