The Closures Guidance (Railway Services in England and Wales) Order 2006

The Secretary of State for Transport makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 43(3)(a) and section 56(5) of the Railways Act 2005( 1 ).
In accordance with section 43(4) of that Act, the National Assembly for Wales has consented to the making of this Order in relation to the proposals referred to in article 2(1).
In accordance with section 42(7) of that Act
the Secretary of State; and
the National Assembly for Wales (in relation to the proposals referred to in regulation 2(1));
have consulted with such persons operating railway passenger services, networks and stations that are affected by the closures guidance and with such other persons as they think appropriate.
In accordance with section 43(1) of that Act, the Secretary of State has laid a copy of the closures guidance before each House of Parliament.
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as Closures Guidance (Railway Services in England and Wales) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 1st December 2006.
(2) In this Order, βthe Actβ means the Railways Act 2005.
Closures guidance
2. The closures guidance dated 18th October 2006 and laid before Parliament on 24th October 2006 is to have effect in relation toβ
(1) the proposals referred to in section 42(3) of the Act; and
(2) the proposals referred to in section 42(4) of the Act.
