The Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2006

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 62 of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006( 1 ), makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2006.

2. In this Order, “the Act” means the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.

3. Section 9 (abandonment of appeal) of the Act shall come into force on 13th November 2006.

4. —(1) Subject to paragraph (2), section 58 (acquisition of British nationality, etc. ) of the Act shall come into force on 4th December 2006.

(2) The coming into force of section 58 shall not have effect in relation to any application under the provisions listed in section 58(2) which was made before 4th December 2006.

(3)Section 50(8) of the British Nationality Act 1981( 2 ) (which makes provision for the date on which an application is made for the purposes of that Act) applies for the purposes of paragraph (1) as it applies for the purposes of that Act.
