POSTAL SERVICES
The Dissolution of the Post Office Order 2007

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred upon him by section 75(2) of the Postal Services Act 2000( 1 ).
In accordance with section 75(2) of that Act he has consulted the Post Office and Royal Mail Holdings plc( 2 ).
In accordance with section 75(3) of that Act he is satisfied that nothing further remains to be done by the Post Office under paragraph 9 of Schedule 3 to that Act or under an order made under that Act:
1. This Order may be cited as the Dissolution of the Post Office Order 2007.
2. The Post Office shall be dissolved on 1st May 2007.

See the definition of โthe Post Office companyโ in section 62(8) of the Postal Services Act 2000. Article 3 of the Post Office Company (Nomination and Appointed Day) Order 2001 ( S.I. 2001/8 (C.1) ) nominated Consignia plc (company number 4074919) for the purposes of section 62 of the Postal Services Act 2000. Consignia plc changed its name to Consignia Holdings plc on 25th January 2001 and to Royal Mail Holdings plc on 4th November 2002.
