The Health Professions Council has made the Health Professions Council (Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2007 as set out in the Schedule to this Order, in exercise of its powers listed in the preamble to those Rules.
In accordance with article 41(1) of the Health Professions Order 2001( 1 ), such Rules shall not come into force until approved by order of the Privy Council.
Having considered the Rules, their Lordships approve them.
This Order may be cited as the Health Professions Council (Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2007 and shall come into force on 1st June 2007.

SCHEDULE The Health Professions Council (Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2007
The Health Professions Council makes the following Rules in exercise of its powers under articles 7(1), 7(2), 9(2), 33(7) and 41(2) of the Health Professions Order 2001( 2 ).
The Health Professions Council has consulted in accordance with articles 7(1), 7(3) and 41(3) of that Order.
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1. —(1) These Rules may be cited as the Health Professions Council (Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2007 and shall come into force on 1st June 2007.
(2) The Health Professions Council (Registration and Fees) Rules 2003( 3 ) are amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Rules.
Amendment of rule 4
2. In rule 4 (applications for registration), for paragraph (1)(c)( 4 ) substitute—
“ (c) accompanied by—
(i) the registration fee prescribed in rule 14, and
(ii) the scrutiny fee prescribed in rule 17; and ” .
Amendment of rule 14
3. In rule 14 (registration fee), in paragraph (1)—
(a) in sub-paragraph (a)—
(i) for “one year” substitute “two years”, and
(ii) for “£60” substitute “£72”; and
(b) in sub-paragraph (b), for “£120” substitute “£144”.
Substitution of rule 15
4. For rule 15 (renewal and readmission fee) substitute—
“ Renewal fee
15. The fee to be charged for renewal of registration is £144.
Readmission fee
15A. The fee to be charged for readmission to the register is £254. ” .
Amendment of rule 16
5. In rule 16 (restoration fee), for “£120” substitute “£254”.
Amendment of rule 16A
6. In rule 16A( 5 ) (reduced fees), in paragraph (1), for “rule 14, 15 or 16” substitute “rule 14, 15, 15A or 16”.
Substitution of rule 17
7. For rule 17( 6 ) (scrutiny fee) substitute—
“ Scrutiny fees
17. —(1) The fee to be charged for scrutinising an application for registration where the applicant is relying on article 12(1)(a) of the Order is £50.
(2) The fee to be charged for scrutinising an application for registration where the applicant is relying on article 12(1)(b) or (c) of the Order, or is seeking to be treated as satisfying the requirements of article 9(2)(a) by virtue of article 13 of the Order, is £400.
(3) The appropriate scrutiny fee shall be paid at the time an application for registration to which it applies is made. ” .
