The Jobseeker’s Allowance (Extension of the Intensive Activity Period) Amendment Regulations 2007

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 19(10)(c), 35(1) and 36(2) of the Jobseekers Act 1995( 1 ).

The Social Security Advisory Committee has agreed that proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it( 2 ).

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Jobseeker’s Allowance (Extension of the Intensive Activity Period) Amendment Regulations 2007 and shall come into force on 1st June 2007.

Amendment of the Jobseeker’s Allowance Regulations 1996

2. —(1)The Jobseeker’s Allowance Regulations 1996( 3 ) are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 75(1)(a)(iv) (interpretation)( 4 ), for “50 years” substitute “60 years”.

1995 c.18 . Section 35(1) is cited because of the meaning it gives to the words “prescribed” and “regulations”. Both of those meanings were amended by paragraph 62 of Schedule 3 to the Social Security Contributions (Transfer of Functions, etc. ) Act 1999 (c.2) .

See section 173(1)(b) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992 (c.5) . Paragraph 67 of Schedule 2 to the Jobseekers Act 1995 added that Act to the list of “relevant enactments” in respect of which regulations must normally be referred to the Committee.
