The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2007

The Secretary of State, being the relevant national authority under section 66(3)(b) of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006( 1 ), makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 66(2) of that Act.

Citation and interpretation

1. β€”(1) This Order may be cited as the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2007.

(2) In this Order, the β€œ2006 Act” means the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.

Commencement

2. Section 27 of the 2006 Act (directions to individuals who represent a risk of disorder) shall come into force on 22nd August 2007.

3. The following provisions of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 1st October 2007β€”

(a) sections 21 and 22 (licence reviews);

(b) section 32 (sales of air weapons by way of trade or business to be face to face);

(c) section 33 (age limits for purchase etc. of air weapons);

(d) section 34 (firing an air weapon beyond premises);

(e) section 36 (manufacture, import and sale of realistic imitation firearms);

(f) section 37 (specific defences applying to the offence under s.36);

(g) section 38 (meaning of β€œrealistic imitation firearm”);

(h) section 39 (specification for imitation firearms);

(i) section 40 (supplying imitation firearms to minors);

(j) section 43(1) and (2) (sale etc. of knives and other weapons);

(k) section 44 (sale etc. of crossbows);

(l) section 47 (power to search persons in attendance centres for weapons); and

(m) section 64 (expenses).

4. The following provisions of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 1st October 2007 to the extent not already in forceβ€”

(a) section 31 (prohibition on sale or transfer of air weapons except by registered dealers);

(b) section 50 (supplemental provisions for Part 2);

(c) section 51 (corresponding provision for Northern Ireland) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 2 (weapons etc.: corresponding provisions for Northern Ireland) referred to in sub-paragraph (d);

(d) in Schedule 2β€”

(i) paragraphs 4 to 8; and

(ii) paragraphs 10, 12 and 14;

(e) section 65 (repeals) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 5 (repeals) referred to in sub-paragraph (f); and

(f) in Schedule 5 (repeals) the entries relating toβ€”

(i) the Firearms Act 1968( 2 ); and

(ii) the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003( 3 ).
