The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2007

The Secretary of State, being the relevant national authority under section 66(3)(b) of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006( 1 ), makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 66(2) of that Act.

Citation and interpretation

1. β€”(1) This Order may be cited as the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2007.

(2) In this Order, the β€œ2006 Act” means the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.

Commencement

2.Section 41 (increase of maximum sentence for possessing an imitation firearm) of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 1st October 2007.

3. The following provisions of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 1st October 2007 to the extent not already in forceβ€”

(a) section 51 (corresponding provision for Northern Ireland) in so far as it relates to the entry in Schedule 2 (weapons etc. : corresponding provisions for Northern Ireland) referred to in sub-paragraph (b);

(b) in Schedule 2, paragraph 9;

(c) section 65 (repeals) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 5 (repeals) referred to in sub-paragraph (d); and

(d) in Schedule 5 (repeals), the entries relating to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994( 2 ).
