The Lord Chancellor makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(8), 26(9) and 29(3) of the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993( 1 ).

1. This Order may be cited as the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 (Addition of Qualifying Judicial Offices) Order 2007 and comes into force on 1st April 2007.

2. In Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 (offices which may be qualifying judicial offices), at the end of the list under the heading “Members of tribunals” insert—

Asylum Support Adjudicator

President of the Charity Tribunal .

3. The amendment in article 2, adding the Asylum Support Adjudicator to Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993, does not apply to a person appointed to the office of Chief Asylum Support Adjudicator before 1st April 2007.

4. At the end of Schedule 5 to the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993(retirement provisions: the relevant offices), insert—

Asylum Support Adjudicator .
