Consumer Protection

The Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007 (Commencement No. 3 and Supplementary Provision) Order 2008

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 63(2) and (3) and 66(2) of the Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007( 1 ).

In accordance with section 62(3)(h) of that Act, a draft of this instrument has been laid before Parliament and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007 (Commencement No. 3 and Supplementary Provision) Order 2008.

Interpretation

2. In this Order “the Act” means the Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007 .

Commencement

3. Section 5 (forward work programme) of the Act shall come into force on 7th May 2008.

Supplementary provision

4. For the purposes of section 5 of the Act, paragraph (a) of the definition of “financial year” in section 41(1) of the Act has effect as if it referred to the period beginning with 1st October 2008 and ending with 31st March 2010.
