The Gambling Act 2005 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2008

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 358(1) and (2) of the Gambling Act 2005( 1 ).

1. This Order may be cited as the Gambling Act 2005 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2008.

2. The provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 specified in column 1 of the Schedule come into force on 20th May 2008, but where a purpose is specified in relation to any such provision in column 2 of that Schedule, the provision comes into force on that date for that purpose only.

SCHEDULE Provisions coming into force on 20th May 2008

Column 1 Column 2
Section 7(5)(b) to (d) , (6) and (7)
Section 159 to 165 For the purposes of enabling an application for a large or small casinopremises licences to be made, considered and determined; and enabling such a licence to be issued on such an application.
Section 175(2) to (8) In so far as the provisions relate to large and small casinopremises licences and provisional statements in respect of large and small casinos.
Section 204 For the purposes of enabling an application for a provisional statement to be made in respect of a large or small casino; and enabling a provisional statement to be issued on such an application.
Schedule 9 In so far as it relates to applications for large and small casino premises licences and provisional statements in respect of large and small casinos.
