The Criminal Justice Act 2003 (Commencement No. 21) Order 2008

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 336(3) and (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 2003( 1 ), makes the following Order:
Citation and interpretation
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 2003 (Commencement No. 21) Order 2008.
(2) In this Order βthe 2003 Actβ means the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
Commencement
2. Section 29(1) to (3), (5) and (6) (new method of instituting proceedings) and section 30 (further provision about the new method) of the 2003 Act come into force on 9th June 2008 for the purposes specified in article 3.
3. The purposes referred to in article 2 are the purposes of criminal proceedings instituted by a public prosecutor within the meaning of section 29(5)(a) of the 2003 Act (a police force or a person authorised by a police force to institute criminal proceedings), in a magistratesβ court sitting in one of the following locations:
(a) Chester;
(b) Crewe;
(c) Macclesfield;
(d) Northwich;
(e) Runcorn;
(f) Warrington; and
(g) Widnes.
