The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families makes the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 1(3) of the Childcare Act 2006( 1 ):

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Local Authority Targets (Well-Being of Young Children) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and come into force on 14th July 2008.

2. In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations” means the Local Authority Targets (Well-Being of Young Children) Regulations 2007( 2 ).

3. For paragraph (2) of regulation 1 of the principal Regulations substitute the following—

(2) In these Regulations “early years foundation stage assessment scales” means the assessment scales described in Appendix 1 to the “Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage” document published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families in May 2008 ( 3 ) . .

4. In regulation 3, before “foundation stage assessment scales” insert “early years”.
