The Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008 (Commencement No 1) Order 2008

The Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 76(1) of the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008( 1 ).

Citation and interpretation

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008 (Commencement No 1) Order 2008.

(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008.

Commencement

2. The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 1st October 2008—

(a) Part 1 and Schedules 1 to 3 (the Local Better Regulation Office);

(b) Sections 24(1)(b), 24(1)(c), 28(6), 28(7) and 34 and paragraph 6(2) of Schedule 4;

(c) Part 3 and Schedules 5 to 7 (civil sanctions); and

(d) Part 4 (regulatory burdens).
