The Christmas Bonus (Specified Sum) Order 2008

Coming into force in accordance with article 1
The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 148(3)(b) and 175(3)(b) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992( 1 ).
A draft of this instrument was laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament in accordance with section 176(1)(c) of that Act.
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Christmas Bonus (Specified Sum) Order 2008 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
Christmas bonus payment for 2008
2. For the purposes of subsection (3)(b) of section 148 (entitlement of pensioners to Christmas bonus) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992, the sum specified for the year 2008 is £70.
