The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2008

The Secretary of State, being the relevant national authority under section 66(3)(b) of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006( 1 ), makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 66(2) of that Act.
Citation and interpretation
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2008.
(2) In this Order, the β2006 Actβ means the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.
Commencement
2. The following provisions of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 1st April 2008 to the extent not already in forceβ
(a) section 43(4) (sale etc. of knives and other weapons) in so far as it inserts subsections (11D) and (11E) into section 141 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (offensive weapons) ( 2 );
(b) section 51 (corresponding provision for Northern Ireland) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 2 (weapons etc.: corresponding provisions for Northern Ireland) referred to in sub-paragraph (c);
(c) in Schedule 2β
(i) paragraph 11(1); and
(ii) paragraph 11(3) in so far as it inserts subsections (11D) and (11E) into section 141 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988;
(d) section 65 (repeals) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 5 (repeals) referred to in sub-paragraph (e);
(e) in Schedule 5 (repeals), the entries relating to the Criminal Justice Act 1988.
3. The following provisions of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 6th April 2008 to the extent not already in forceβ
(a) section 43 (sale etc. of knives and other weapons);
(b) section 51 (corresponding provision for Northern Ireland) in so far as it relates to the entry in Schedule 2 (weapons etc.: corresponding provisions for Northern Ireland) referred to in sub-paragraph (c);
(c) in Schedule 2, paragraph 11; and
(d) section 59 (limitation period for anti-social behaviour orders).
