The Relevant Authorities (Code of Conduct) (Prescribed Period for Undertakings) (Wales) Order 2008

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 183(6) and (11) and section 240(10) of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007( 1 ), makes the following Order:
Citation, commencement and application
1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Relevant Authorities (Code of Conduct) (Prescribed Period for Undertakings) (Wales) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 30th April 2008.
(2) This Order applies in relation to persons who, immediately before the coming into force of section 183 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 are—
(a) members or co-opted members of a relevant authority in Wales other than a police authority, and
(b) not prevented by any provision of section 52 of the Local Government Act 2000( 2 ) from acting as such( 3 ).
Prescribed period for giving undertaking
2. The period prescribed for the purposes of section 183(6) of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 (at the end of which the person will cease to be a member or co-opted member unless he has given a written undertaking that he will observe the authority’s code of conduct for the time being), is the period ending on 1st May 2008( 4 ).
