The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 7) Order 2009

The Secretary of State, being the relevant national authority under section 66(3)(b) of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006( 1 ) makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 66(2) of that Act.

Citation and interpretation

1. β€”(1) This Order may be cited as the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No. 7) Order 2009.

(2) In this Order, the β€œ2006 Act” means the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.

Commencement

2. The following provisions of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 31st August 2009β€”

(a) section 1 (drinking banning orders),

(b) section 2 (duration of drinking banning orders),

(c) section 3 (orders on an application to magistrates’ court),

(d) section 4 (orders in county court proceedings), and

(e) section 5 (variation or discharge of orders under s. 3 or 4).

3. The following provisions of the 2006 Act shall come into force on 31st August 2009 in so far as they relate to a drinking banning order under section 3 or 4 of the 2006 Actβ€”

(a) section 9 (interim orders),

(b) section 10 (appeals),

(c) section 11 (breach of drinking banning orders),

(d) section 12 (approved courses),

(e) section 13 (certificates of completion of approved courses), and

(f) section 14 (interpretation of Chapter 1).
