The Treasury are a government department designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing and in relation to payment services and measures relating to payment systems.

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972, make the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Terrorism (United Nations Measures) Order (Consequential Amendments) Regulations 2009 and come into force on 10th August 2009.

Amendment to the Money Laundering Regulations 2007

2. In the definition of “terrorist financing” in regulation 2(1) of the Money Laundering Regulations 2007

(a) delete “or” at the end of sub-paragraph (c);

(b) at the end of sub-paragraph (d) insert—

or

(e) article 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 or 16 of the Terrorism (United Nations Measures) Order 2009 ; .

Amendment to the Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2007

3. In the definition of “terrorist financing” in regulation 2(1) of the Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2007

(a) delete “or” at the end of sub-paragraph (c);

(b) at the end of sub-paragraph (d) insert—

or

(e) article 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 or 16 of the Terrorism (United Nations Measures) Order 2009; .
