By the Lords of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council

Their Lordships make the following Order of Council in exercise of the powers conferred by article 1(4) of the Medical Profession (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2008( 1 ):

Citation and interpretation

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Medical Profession (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2008 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2009.

(2) In this Order, “the Order” means the Medical Profession (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2008 .

Appointed day

2. 9th September 2009 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Order

(a) the following paragraphs of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Order

(i) paragraph 11;

(ii) paragraph 15;

(iii) paragraph 16(2) in so far as it substitutes sub-section (2)(a) into section 29J of, and inserts sub-section 29J(2A) into, the Medical Act 1983( 2 );

(iv) paragraph 16(3);

(v) paragraph 16(1) in so far as it relates to the provisions mentioned in sub-paragraphs (iii) and (iv); and

(b) article 3(2) in so far as it relates to the provisions of the Order mentioned in paragraph (a) of this article.
