The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Exemption) (Aviation Security) Regulations 2006 (Amendment) Regulations 2009

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(1) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 ( 1 ), makes the following Regulations.

In accordance with section 4(1) of that Act, it appears to the Secretary of State that there are circumstances in which licensable conduct is engaged in only by persons to whom suitable alternative arrangements will apply and he is satisfied that, as a consequence, it is unnecessary for persons engaging in any such conduct in those circumstances to be required to be licensed under that Act.

In accordance with section 24(4)( 2 ) of that Act he has consulted the Security Industry Authority and the Scottish Ministers.

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Exemption) (Aviation Security) Regulations 2006 (Amendment) Regulations 2009 and shall come into force on 1st December 2009.

Amendments to the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Exemption) (Aviation Security) Regulations 2006

2. —(1)The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Exemption) (Aviation Security) Regulations 2006( 3 ) are amended as follows.

(2) In the heading to regulation 1 for “Citation, commencement and extent” substitute “Citation and commencement”.

(3) Omit regulation 1(2)( 4 ).

2001 (c.12) . This Act was extended to Northern Ireland by section 48(3) of the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 c.6 .

Section 24(4) of the 2001 Act has been amended by paragraph 11(e) of Schedule 15 to the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (c.15) .
