The Licensed Conveyancers (Compensation for Inadequate Professional Services) Order 2009

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by paragraph 16(2) of Schedule 8 to the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990( 1 ).

In accordance with paragraph 16(3) of that Schedule, he has consulted the Council for Licensed Conveyancers before making this Order.

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Licensed Conveyancers (Compensation for Inadequate Professional Services) Order 2009 and comes into force on 31st March 2009.

Revocation

3.The Licensed Conveyancers (Compensation for Inadequate Professional Services) Order 2000( 2 ) is revoked.

1990 c. 41 . Paragraph 16(1) was amended by the Licensed Conveyancers (Compensation for Inadequate Professional Services) Order 2000 ( S.I. 2000/643 ) which for the figure “£1,000” substituted the figure “£5,000”. In paragraph 16(2) the words “Secretary of State” were substituted by the Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs Order 2003 ( S.I. 2003/1887 ), Schedule 2 paragraph 8(1)(d). Paragraph 16 will be repealed by the Legal Services Act 2007 (c. 29) ; see paragraph 100(e) of Schedule 21 to that Act.
