The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(6) of the Terrorism Act 2000( 1 ).

In accordance with section 3(6)(a) of that Act, the Secretary of State believes that the organisation referred to in article 2(1) of the following Order, being an organisation listed in Schedule 2 to that Act, is operating wholly or partly under a name that is not specified in that Schedule (whether as well as or instead of under the specified name).

1. This Order may be cited as the Proscribed Organisations (Name Change) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 2 nd April 2009.

2. Jama’at ud Da’wa, being a name that is not specified in Schedule 2 to the Terrorism Act 2000, is to be treated as another name for Lashkar e Tayyaba, being an organisation listed in that Schedule( 2 ).
