The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Commencement No.1) (Northern Ireland) Order 2009

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 26(2) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001( 1 ), makes the following Order.
In accordance with section 24(4)( 2 ) of that Act the Secretary of State has consulted the Scottish Ministers and the Security Industry Authority.
Citation and Extent
1. This Order may be cited as the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Commencement No.1) (Northern Ireland) Order 2009.
2. This Order extends to Northern Ireland only.
Commencement of the Private Security Industry Act 2001
3. The following provisions of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 shall come into force on 11th March 2009 for the purpose only of making regulations or orders:
(a) section 1 (The Security Industry Authority);
(b) section 3 (Conduct prohibited without a licence);
(c) section 4 (Exemptions from licensing requirement);
(d) section 7 (Licensing criteria);
(e) section 8 (Licences to engage in licensable conduct);
(f) section 9 (Licence conditions);
(g) section 15 (Arrangements for the grant of approvals);
(h) section 24 (Orders and regulations);
(i) section 25 (Interpretation); and
(j) Schedule 2 (Activities liable to control under the Act).

2001 c.12 ; the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 (c.6), section 48(3), replaced section 26(3) and (4) with a new section 26(3).
Section 24(4) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 has been amended by paragraph 11(e) of Schedule 15 to the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (c.15) .
