The Armed Forces Act 2006 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2009

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 383(2) of the Armed Forces Act 2006( 1 ), makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1. This Order may be cited as the Armed Forces Act 2006 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2009.

2. In this Order “the Act” means the Armed Forces Act 2006 .

Commencement

3. The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 28th March 2009—

(a) the whole Act, except section 351 and Schedule 12, so far as is necessary for the purpose of enabling—

(i) the Defence Council to make regulations,

(ii) the Secretary of State to make orders, regulations and rules,

(iii) Royal Warrants to be made, and

(iv) Orders in Council to be made,

under the Act or under any other Act modified or amended by the Act;

(b) the whole Act so far as is necessary for the purpose of enabling the Defence Council to make appointments under the Act;

(c) section 370 and Schedule 15 so far as is necessary for enabling the Defence Council, or an officer authorised by the Defence Council, to make designations for the purposes of paragraph 7 of Schedule 15.
