The Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 (Commencement No.14) Order 2010

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 153(7) of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008( 1 ).
Citation and interpretation
1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 (Commencement No.14) Order 2010.
(2) In this Order “the 2008 Act” means the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008.
Appointed date
2. The following provisions of the 2008 Act come into force on 23 March 2010—
(a) section 74 (hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation) to the extent that it is not already in force;
(b) section 148(1) (consequential etc. amendments and transitional and saving provision), to the extent that it refers to paragraph 70 (Criminal Justice Act 2003( 2 )) of Schedule 26 (minor and consequential amendments);
(c) section 149 (repeals and revocations), to the extent that it refers to the entry relating to section 233 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003, in Part 2 (sentencing) of Schedule 28 (repeals and revocations);
(d) Schedule 16 (hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation) to the extent that it is not already in force;
(e) in Schedule 26 (minor and consequential amendments), paragraph 70 (Criminal Justice Act 2003); and
(f) in Part 2 (sentencing) of Schedule 28 (repeals and revocations), the entry relating to section 233 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
3. The following provisions of the 2008 Act come into force on 1 April 2010—
(a) section 148(1) (consequential etc. amendments and transitional and saving provision), to the extent that it refers to paragraph 83 (Offender Management Act 2007( 3 )) of Schedule 26 (minor and consequential amendments); and
(b) in Schedule 26 (minor and consequential amendments), paragraph 83 (Offender Management Act 2007).
4. Section 144 (power to require data controllers to pay monetary penalty) of the 2008 Act, to the extent that it is not already in force, comes into force on 6 April 2010.
