The M5 Motorway (Junction 29 Connecting Road) Scheme 2010

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Scheme in exercise of powers conferred by sections 16 and 17 of the Highways Act 1980 ( 1 ) and now vested in him ( 2 ) and ( 3 ):

1. This Scheme may be cited as the M5 Motorway (Junction 29 Connecting Road) Scheme 2010 and shall come into force on 1st April 2010.

2. In this Scheme:

(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

(2) (a) “special road” means the Motorway and its connecting roads; and

(b) connecting road” means the special road described in the Schedule to this Scheme.

3. The Secretary of State is authorised to provide the special road for the exclusive use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980.

4. The centre line of the special road is indicated by a heavy black line on the plan numbered HA/16/NOD/002, marked “The M5 Motorway (Junction 29 Connecting Road) Scheme 2010”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at Document Deposit Service, Communities and Local Government, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.

5. The special road shall become a trunk road on the date when this Scheme comes into force.

SCHEDULE ROUTE OF THE CONNECTING ROAD

The route of the connecting road is a section of the M5 Motorway southbound exit slip road, marked 1 on the plan, about 0.20 kilometres (0.12 miles) in length, from a point on the slip road about 210 metres north of its junction with the A30(T) trunk road at the north kerb line, to a point southwards on the slip road about 15 metres north of its junction with the A30(T) trunk road at the north kerb line, in the District of East Devon in the County of Devon.
