The Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011 (Repeal of Alternative Vote Provisions) Order 2011

Coming into force in accordance with article 1
In the referendum held under section 1 of the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011( 1 ), more votes were not cast in favour of the answer “Yes” than in favour of the answer “No”.
Accordingly, the Lord President of the Council( 2 ), in performance of the obligation imposed by section 8(2) of the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011, makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011 (Repeal of Alternative Vote Provisions) Order 2011 and comes into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
Repeal of alternative vote provisions
2. In the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011, the following are repealed—
(a) section 9 (the alternative vote system: amendments),
(b) Schedule 10 (the alternative vote system: further amendments), and
(c) Part 1 of Schedule 12 (repeals: voting system for parliamentary elections).

“The Minister” is defined in section 7(1) of the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011 to include the Lord President of the Council.
