Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980( 1 ) and now vested in the Secretary of State( 2 ):

1. This Instrument may be cited as β€œThe Cambridgeshire County Council (St. Neots Southern Foot and Cycle Bridge) Scheme 2010 Confirmation Instrument 2011” and shall come into force on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

2. The Cambridgeshire County Council (St. Neots Southern Foot and Cycle Bridge) Scheme 2010 (β€œthe Scheme”) is hereby confirmed without modifications.

3. The Scheme as confirmed is set out in the Schedule hereto (including the plans) and copies of the Scheme as modified with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Department for Transport, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex, TN37 7GA, and at the offices of Cambridgeshire County Council at Shire Hall, Castle Hill, Cambridge (Environment Services, Castle Court) and at the offices of St. Neots Town Council, Council Offices, The Priory St. Neots, Cambridgeshire, PE19 2BH.

THE SCHEDULE

The County Council of Cambridgeshire (hereinafter referred to as β€œthe Council”) makes this Scheme in exercise of its powers under Section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980.

1. The Council is authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the River Great Ouse the bridge specified in the Schedule to the Scheme as part of the highway which it is proposing to construct between Shakespeare Road in the Parish of Eaton Socon and Barford Road in the Parish of Eynesbury in the County of Cambridgeshire.

2. The Scheme may be cited as the Cambridgeshire County Council (St. Neots Southern Foot and Cycle Bridge) Scheme 2010.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEME PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE ST. NEOTS SOUTHERN FOOT AND CYCLE BRIDGE

The location and general plan layout of St. Neots Southern Foot and Cycle Bridge Scheme 2010 are shown on the plan marked β€œThe Cambridgeshire County Council (St. Neots Southern Foot and Cycle Bridge) Scheme 2010”.

POINTS OF COMMENCEMENT AND TERMINATION

From a point on the east bank of the River Great Ouse 365 metres east of the junction of Great North Road and Shakespeare Road Eaton Socon 350 metres downstream of Eaton Socon Lock, to a point on the west bank 65 metres west of the junction of Public Right of Way FP2 and Public Right of Way FP4 Eynesbury.

SPAN

Seventeen spans with a main river span of 39.6 metres. There is one approach span on the west side of the bridge of 18.0 metres. There are fifteen spans on the east side of the bridge of 18.0 metres each.

HEADWAY

Not less than 0.6 metres above maximum recorded floor level of 16.52 metres AOD and not less than 3.5 metres above the normal river level of 13.6 metres AOD.

WATERWAY

A minimum clear navigable waterway of 20.0 metres.

OVERALL DIMENSIONS

The bridge deck has an overall width of 3.32 metres and will carry a 1.5 metre cycleway and a 1.5 metre footway.
