The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2012

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 157(1) of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011( 1 ).

Citation and interpretation

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2012.

(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 .

Provisions coming into force on 25th April 2012

2. The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act is 25th April 2012—

(a) section 28(1) and (10) (police and crime panels outside London);

(b) Chapter 6 of Part 1, to the extent not already in force (police and crime commissioners: elections and vacancies);

(c) section 77 (the strategic policing requirement);

(d) Chapter 1 of Part 2, to the extent not already in force (amendments of the Licensing Act 2003), with the exception of sections 119 and 121;

(e) Schedule 6 (police and crime panels);

(f) Schedule 9 (supplementary vote system);

(g) Schedule 10 (elections of police and crime commissioners: consequential amendments), with the exception of paragraph 12.
