The Greater London Authority Act 1999 (Amendment) Order 2012

The Secretary of State for Health makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 31(9) and 420(1) of the Greater London Authority Act 1999( 1 ).

A draft of the Order was laid before Parliament in accordance with section 420(3)(b) of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 and approved by resolution of each House.

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (Amendment) Order 2012 and shall come into force on 1st July 2012.

(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Greater London Authority Act 1999 .

Amendment to section 31 of the Act

2. —(1) Section 31 of the Act (limits of the general power) is amended as follows.

(2) After subsection (5), insert—

(5A) Any reference in subsection (3) above to the provision of health services does not include a reference to the provision of services or facilities for promoting improvements in, or protecting, public health. .

(3) In subsection (6), for “(5)” substitute “(5A)”.
