The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 70(1)(a) and 154(5)(a) and (c) of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011( 1 ) as extended by section 26(3) of the Welsh Language Act 1993( 2 ).

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1. β€”(1) This Order may be cited as the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections (Declaration of Acceptance of Office) Order 2012.

(2) This Order comes into force on 15th November 2012.

(3) β€œPolice area” means a police area listed in Schedule 1 to the Police Act 1996( 3 ) (police areas outside London).

Form of declaration of acceptance of office: police areas in England

2. The declaration of acceptance of office by a person elected to the office of police and crime commissioner for any police area in England must be in the form set out in Schedule 1.

Form of declaration of acceptance of office: police areas in Wales

3. The declaration of acceptance of office by a person elected to the office of police and crime commissioner for any police area in Wales must be eitherβ€”

(a) in the English form set out in Schedule 1, or

(b) in the Welsh form set out in Schedule 2.
