The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations, in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 2(2), 24(1) and (3) and 36(2) of the Jobseekers (Northern Ireland) Order 1995( 1 ).
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Jobseeker’s Allowance (Members of the Forces) (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 and shall come into force on 5th November 2012.
Amendment of the Jobseeker’s Allowance (Members of the Forces) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1997
2. —(1) The Jobseeker’s Allowance (Members of the Forces) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1997( 2 ) are amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (4).
(2) In regulation 1(2) (citation, commencement and interpretation), in the definition of “serving member of the forces” for “regulation 1(2) of the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 1979” substitute “regulation 1(2) of the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 2001( 3 )”.
(3) Omit regulation 3 (entitlement to jobseeker’s allowance).
(4) In regulation 7 (extension of time for performing certain acts)—
(a) in paragraph (1) omit “Subject to paragraph (2),”; and
(b) omit paragraph (2).

S.I. 1995/2705 (N.I. 15) . Article 2(2) is an interpretation provision and is cited because of the meaning given to the term “prescribed”. That definition was amended by S.I. 1999/671 . Article 36(2) was amended by paragraph 55 of Schedule 3 to, the Social Security Contributions (Transfer of Functions, etc. ) (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 ( S.I. 1999/671 ).
