The Criminal Justice Act 2003 (Commencement No. 27) Order 2012

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 336(3) and (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 2003( 1 ):

Citation and interpretation

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 2003 (Commencement No. 27) Order 2012.

(2) In this Order “the 2003 Act” means the Criminal Justice Act 2003.

Commencement

2. Section 29(1) to (3) and (5) (new method of instituting proceedings) and section 30 (further provision about the new method) of the 2003 Act come into force on 19th March 2012, but only for the purposes of criminal proceedings instituted by —

(a) the Director of the Serious Fraud Office or a person authorised by the Director to institute criminal proceedings; and

(b) the Director of Public Prosecutions or a person authorised by the Director to institute criminal proceedings.
