The M1 Motorway (Junction 19 Improvement) (M1 Motorway Connecting Roads) Scheme 2013

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Scheme in exercise of powers conferred by sections 16, 17 and 19 of the Highways Act 1980( 1 ) and now vested in him( 2 ) and( 3 ):

1. This Scheme may be cited as the M1 Motorway (Junction 19 Improvement) (M1 Motorway Connecting Roads) Scheme 2013 and shall come into force on 29th August 2013.

2. In this Scheme:

(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway:

(2) (a) “connecting road” means a special road along a route described in the Schedule to this Scheme;

(b) the Motorway” means the existing M1 Motorway;

(c) the plan” means the plan folio numbered HA 16/MP/014, containing a site plan bound and numbered 1, marked “The M1 Motorway (Junction 19 Improvement) (M1 Motorway Connecting Roads) Scheme 2013”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at Document Deposit Service, Communities and Local Government, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA; and

(d) the special roads” means the Motorway and each connecting road.

3. The Secretary of State is authorised to provide the special roads for the exclusive use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980.

4. The centre line of each of the special roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the plan.

5. Each of the special roads shall become a trunk road on the date when this Scheme comes into force.

SCHEDULE ROUTES OF THE CONNECTING ROADS

The routes of the slip roads are as follows:

1)

Junction with A14 Trunk Road at Catthorpe

A route about 1.07 kilometres in length, from the new westbound carriageway of the A14 Trunk Road which the Secretary of State proposes to construct at Catthorpe to the existing northbound carriageway of the M1 Motorway the special road along this route being given the number 1 on the plan.

A route about 0.71 kilometres in length, from the existing southbound carriageway of the M1 Motorway to the new eastbound carriageway of the A14 Trunk Road which the Secretary of State proposes to construct at Catthorpe the special road along this route being given the number 2 on the plan.
