The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2014

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 21(3) of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013( 1 ), makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1. β€”(1) This Order may be cited as the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2014.

(2) In this Order β€œthe Act” means the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013.

Provisions coming into force on 30th June 2014

2. To the extent that the following provisions of the Act confer or relate to the power to make subordinate legislation, those provisions come into force on 30th June 2014 for the purpose of exercising any power (arising under or by virtue of that provision) to make subordinate legislationβ€”

(a) section 9(1) to (5) and (7); and

(b) paragraphs 1, 9 and 19 of Schedule 5, and section 12 so far as it relates to those paragraphs.

3. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 30th June 2014β€”

(a) paragraph 23 of Schedule 4;

(b) paragraph 18 of Schedule 4 so far as it relates to paragraph 23; and

(c) section 11(4) so far as it relates to the provisions specified in paragraphs (a) and (b).
