The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2014

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 97(1), 99(7ZA) and 105(1) and (4) of the Road Traffic Act 1988( 1 ) (the “1988 Act”), and by virtue of the Department for Transport (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration Fees) Order 2003( 2 ) and, in accordance with section 105(4) of the 1988 Act, with the approval of the Treasury.

In accordance with section 195(2) of the 1988 Act the Secretary of State has consulted with representative organisations:

Citation and commencement

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2014.

(2) These Regulations come into force on 31st October 2014.

Amendment of Regulations

2. In the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1999( 3 ) in Schedule 3 (licence fees) in Part 1 (table of fees applying on or after 1st April 2008) the table is amended as follows—

(a) for item number 1 substitute—

1. A first licence—
(a) where the application is made online £34
(b) where the application is not made online £43 ;

(b) for item numbers 12 to 15 substitute—

12. A photocard licence granted under section 99(7) of the Traffic Act following the surrender under section 99(2A) of that Act of a photocard licence granted before 19th January 2013—
(a) where the application is made online £14
(b) where the application is not made online £17
13. A Group 1 photocard licence granted under section 99(7) of the Traffic Act (the “new licence”), following the surrender under section 99(2A) of that Act of a Group 1 photocard licence granted after 18th January 2013, where the administrative validity period of the new licence is the period of 10 years in accordance with section 99(2B)(b) of that Act
(a) where the application is made online £14
(b) where the application is not made online £17
14. A Group 1 photocard licence granted under section 99(7) of the Traffic Act, following the surrender under section 99(3) or (4) of that Act of a Group 1 photocard licence, where an election is made under section 99(2D)(b) of that Act
(a) where the application is made online £14
(b) where the application is not made online £17
15. A Group 1 photocard licence granted under section 97 of the Traffic Act, following the surrender of, or an adequate explanation for not surrendering, a Group 1 photocard licence issued in Great Britain, where an election is made under section 99(2E)(b) of that Act—
(a) where the application is made online £14
(b) where the application is not made online £17 .
