The Secretary of State, having consulted the Authority( 1 ), makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(1) and (8) of the Electricity Act 1989( 2 ).
The Secretary of State has given notice of the proposal to make this Order in accordance with section 5(2) and (11) of that Act. No representations in respect of the proposal have been made.
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Electricity Act 1989 (Exemption from the Requirement for an Interconnector Licence) (Amendment) Order 2014 and comes into force on 20th October 2014.
Amendments to the Electricity Act 1989 (Exemption from the Requirement for an Interconnector Licence) Order 2006
2. —(1)The Electricity Act 1989 (Exemption from the Requirement for an Interconnector Licence) Order 2006( 3 ) is amended as follows.
(2) In article 2—
(a) omit the definition of “MEA”;
(b) after the definition of “the Moyle Interconnector” insert—
“ “ MUA ” means the Manx Utilities Authority, a statutory board established by the Transfer of Functions (Manx Utilities Authority) Order 2014 ( 4 ) ; ” ; and
(c) omit the definition of “NIE”.
(3) In article 3—
(a) in paragraph (a), for “MEA” substitute “MUA”;
(b) at the end of paragraph (b), insert “and”;
(c) in paragraph (c), for “; and” substitute “.”; and
(d) omit paragraph (d).

“The Authority” is defined by section 111 of the Electricity Act 1989 as the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority.
