The Equality Act 2006 (Dissolution of the Disability Committee) Order 2014

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in discharge of the duty imposed by paragraph 61 of Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Equality Act 2006( 1 ) and now vested in her( 2 ) and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 39(2)(c) of that Act.

The Secretary of State has received a recommendation from the Commission for Equality and Human Rights in accordance with paragraph 60 of Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Equality Act 2006( 3 ).

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Equality Act 2006 (Dissolution of the Disability Committee) Order 2014 and comes into force on 1st April 2014.

Dissolution of the Disability Committee

2. The Disability Committee, established under paragraph 49(1) of Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Equality Act 2006, is dissolved with effect from 31st March 2017.

Repeal and Consequential Amendments

3. —(1) Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Equality Act 2006 is repealed with effect from 31st March 2017.

(2) Accordingly, in Part 2 of that Schedule, omit paragraphs 21(2), 22(3), 29(2) and 30(3) from that date.
