The Criminal Justice Act 2003 (Commencement No. 32) Order 2014

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 336(3) and (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 2003( 1 ).

Citation and interpretation

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 2003 (Commencement No. 32) Order 2014.

(2) In this Order “the 2003 Act” means the Criminal Justice Act 2003 .

Provisions coming into force on 1st April 2014

2. Section 29(1) to (3), (5) and (6) (new method of instituting proceedings) and section 30 (further provision about the new method) of the 2003 Act come into force on 1st April 2014 but only for the purposes of criminal proceedings instituted by a public prosecutor within the meaning of section 29(5)(e) of the 2003 Act (a Secretary of State or a person authorised by one) who is a person authorised to do so on behalf of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.
